Vareniki is a staple dish in Russian and Ukrainian cuisines. They are half-moon shaped dumplings with different fillings, but not meat ones. The most common and loved fillings are potato, berries, cottage cheese and potato with mushrooms.
It is customary to accompany vareniki with Russian sour cream called smetana or if you want sweeter option, with jam and condensed milk (for berries and cottage cheese).
How to cook:
– bring water to a boil with a pinch of salt in a large pot on the stove
– add frozen vareniki and leave until they float on the surface
– from the moment they floated, boil for about 3-4 minutes until cooked through.
