Incredible, aromatic, very saturated, with a little alcohol …
Worth trying!
The original form of the baba was similar to the baba or babka, a tall, cylindrical yeast cake (babka is still baked in Poland and Polish-influenced western Ukraine and Polish communities over the world). The name means “old woman” or “grandmother” in most Slavic languages; babka is a diminutive of baba.
Rum baba is a confectionery product of Slavic origin, and it is a type of baba – a cake made from yeast dough with the addition of raisins. The mass of the product is at least 100 g. After baking, it is abundantly soaked in sugar syrup with rum essence. Finally, the top of the cake is coated with sugar fondant or icing.
